Day 19: Ovals & Hot Flashes
Just like the title, while I was practicing the second hardest basic stroke, I had several hot flashes. I'm going through menopause right now. My face was dripping from sweat. It just happens out of nowhere. You can't control when it happens, which is all the time. It feels like there's 10,000 sun cores inside me. I persevered and continued. A small portion of my paper I was unable to use due to sweat dripping off my forehead. I didn't want to stop mid stroke, so I kept going.
Whether you're learning calligraphy or any new hobby, challenges will always come up while learning/practicing. There is nothing more distracting than being hot with sweat dripping all over your body, but I kept going and made it through, and you can too. Some days, simply showing up is the victory. Pick up your pen, make a few strokes, and give yourself credit for keeping the promise you made to your future self. Consistency will always take you farther than waiting for motivation.
