Why is the letter “t” so ridiculously hard?

There’s something about the so-called easy letters that are the most challenging for me. I really struggled with the first five rows of the letter “t”. It was the filling in the space between the upstroke and the loop. It hits a snag each time. From there into the downstroke and making that curve up, it disintegrated.  

My first line of the letter “t” was not promising. When I reached the fifth row, for some reason, I started writing the letter “f”. I’m like WFT am I doing?” I honestly thought I was going to need at least three practice sheets to get this letter right. I was getting frustrated again. I got up and took a ten-minute break. I sat on my chair outside on my patio, put my headphones on, and listened to some music.  

Then I came back and finished that same practice sheet, which was the last row. The calligraphy gods took pity on me, and it all came together. My letter “t” began looking like the letter “t”. I wanted to cry in relief. The row came out fantastic. All it took was a few almost written letter “f’s”, a WTF moment and a ten-minute break.  

We don't become calligraphers the day our letters become perfect. We become one the day we decide to keep learning, keep practicing, and keep creating. Every stroke we make is proof that we are on this journey
