Day 3: Undertone Stroke

(Left) Underturn Practice Sheet (Credit Becca C. Rafter) @ The Happily Every Crafter (Right) My finished practice sheet for the Underturn Stroke.

This stroke was a bit easier for me than the Overturn Stroke. I really liked it. I still couldn’t get that smooth transition from the thick downstroke into the curve and connecting to the upstroke. My frustration level wasn’t as high as yesterday. So far, I will admit that the Undertone Stroke is my favorite.

I was able to do two practices. One in the morning and the other in the evening. The morning practice session were 30-minutes each. The evening session turned into an hour. I was so consumed and in complete concentration of practicing this stroke, I didn’t hear the alarm. It caught be my surprise because, I was looking around like, “What is that noise?” Whose alarm is that?” I laughed because I realized it was mine.

It’s okay to laugh and not be so serious all the time. Learning calligraphy or any hobby is supposed to be fun and not a chore. The strokes may not be perfect today, but they're better than yesterday—and that's enough for me.
